The Arlington-Fairfax (ARLFX) Junior Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America was established in 2016 with approval of the bylaws and constitution by the BOD. It has a membership of approximately 200 youth under the age of 18 years old who actively participate in a variety of activities sponsored or supported by the Arlington-Fairfax Chapter Inc., IWLA. Membership in the Junior chapter is required of all youths participating in organized shooting sports activities at the Chapter. Junior chapter affairs are administered by a nine-member Board of Directors elected annually.
In addition to participating in their individual activities, the youth Chapter co-sponsors the annual Wendel Thompson Memorial Precision Air Rifle/Pistol Match. This event attracts competitors from across Virginia and neighboring states as well. Over 60 air rifle and air pistol shooters participated in the 2019 match which also served as the Virginia Shooting Sports Association State Air Rifle and Air Pistol Championship.
Note: Minors under 18 years of age are not permitted to use the property and its facilities unless accompanied by an adult member or as a participation in a chapter sponsored/sanctioned activity. Youth Chapter members’ use of chapter facilities is limited to participation in organized activities (meetings, practices, etc.) sponsored/sanctioned by the chapter.
