The Arlington Fairfax Chapter, Inc., IWLA, Target Archery is provided for archers who enjoy and compete in the sport of target archery in addition to shooting for recreation.  We maintain the 90-meter target archery field located next to the field house and sponsor both indoor and outdoor target archery tournaments several times a year.

Target Archery also shoots at the Chapter indoor range during the winter months. The Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program and the Adult Archery Program (AAP) are part of Target Archery. These groups meet throughout the year to train both youth and adults in the sport of Olympic style target archery. The Competition Archery Team is the name of the JOAD and AAP groups. These two groups hold multiple 12-week training sessions throughout the year.  They also hold U.S. Archery Level 1, 2, and 3 Archery Instructor and Coach classes during the year as well as several smaller archery training seminars.

Adult target archers and youth meet regularly during the week on Thursday evenings 7-9 p.m. at either the indoor range or the outdoor target archery range for open shooting and individual instruction. The JOAD group meets on Sundays 3-5 p.m. and the AAP meets each Wednesday evening 7-9 p.m. for adult training sessions.

Target Archery holds two major indoor FITA-style tournaments a year. One is held in November and the other in February. These tournaments bring in almost a hundred archers from Virginia and the surrounding states to compete.

The Target Archery group consists of several Level 1 and 2 U.S. Archery certified instructors and Level 3 Archery Certified Coaches.
