About the Youth Chapter

The Arlington-Fairfax (ARL-FX) Youth Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America was established in 2016 with approval of the bylaws and constitution by the BOD.  It has a membership of approximately 200 youth under the age of 18 years old who actively participate in a variety of activities sponsored or supported by the Arlington-Fairfax Chapter Inc., IWLA.  Membership in the Youth chapter is required of all youth participating in organized shooting sports activities at the Chapter.  Youth chapter affairs are administered by a nine-member Board of Directors elected annually.

In addition to participating in their individual activities, the youth Chapter co-sponsors the annual Wendel Thompson Memorial Precision Air Rifle/Pistol Match.  This event attracts competitors from across Virginia and neighboring states as well.  Over 60 air rifle and air pistol shooters participated in the 2019 match which also served as the Virginia Shooting Sports Association State Air Rifle and Air Pistol Championship.
